Creative Europe is the European Commission’s programme for supporting the culture and media sectors in Europe. It replaces the old Culture and Media funding programmes, aiming to integrate the two, offer cross-sector opportunities and simplify the process of applying for funding.
Creative Europe has a budget of €1.46 billion from 2014-2020, and will support:
Culture sector initiatives through four funding streams:
o Cross-border cooperation
o Literary Translation
Audiovisual sector, including:
o Audience development
o International co-production funds
o Distribution and online distribution
o Development (for the gaming industry)
o TV programming
A cross-sectoral strand, including:
o A guarantee facility, financial instrument
o Transnational policy cooperation
To maximise these opportunities and offer free advice and support to the sector in Wales, the Creative Europe Desk Wales has been established as part of the Welsh Government. Ani Saunders can offer support for interest in European culture projects and Judy Wasdell will dispel your questions about the Media sub-programme. Keep up-to-date with events and updates via the website.
The Creative Europe Desk Wales works closely with WAI to identify relevant opportunities for organisations engaging and working with Europe, or with ambition to work internationally. You can contact Zélie Flach for more information.
