Violet Skies at Canadian Music Week

Violet Skies applied to travel to Toronto to showcase at Canadian Music Week in May 2016. This year has been particularly busy for Violet Skeis as she has received offers to perform at a number of international showcases. Canadian Music Week was another opportunity to introduce new audiences to her music and build on her previous experiences of showcasing. Networking has been a crucial part of this to make sure the visit was a success, and future touring potential secured.

"Wales Arts International have supported me so much over the past year or so, with their help I've been able to play shows in Europe, Canada and the U.S. I've performed at Eurosonic, Canadian Music Week and SXSW in 2016, and also attended an incredible writing camp in Nashville, with more international shows confirmed for 2017 that they are also funding. I wouldn't have been able to get my band over without them, and each showcase has led to the next, helping us grow and really developing my career. I credit much of my recent success and creative output, especially the connections I have made, to the funding WAI have provided. SXSW and Nashville were really big turning points where I found management, found life-long writing partners and learnt so much about the US music world. At Eurosonic I was also scouted by German agents, and as a result have worked on a German tour with them, and ended up recording my most recent EP in Berlin thanks to them. None of this would have been possible without the generosity and belief that WAI have given me. It feels amazing to be performing thousands of miles from Wales knowing that there is a team behind you back home supporting."
