Ball, Dave

A residency at Est-Nors-Est in Saint-Jean-Port-Joli in Quebec, Canada and an accompanying exhibition.

The project at Est-Nord-Est initially developed from Dave’s application to an open call for international artists, curators and writers to take part in their residency programme. He was selected to be a resident artist and to take part in the themed triennial exhibition, 'To Make the Improbable'. The Est-Nord-Est committee were attracted by the 'quality, conceptual coherence, freshness and unique wittiness' of his work; they were also drawn to the philosophical parallels between his work and the theme of the exhibition.

The exhibition 'To Make the Improbable' offered an exciting curatorial framework to work within. The show was themed around ideas of being able to see the world differently, and imagining alternative worlds. This had a very strong connection to Dave’s own interests in the relationship between the world of "sense" and the world of "non-sense".

WAI contributed to Dave Ball’s costs to undertake a residency at Est-Nors-Est in Saint-Jean-Port-Joli in Quebec, Canada and to take part in the accompanying exhibition, 'To Make the Improbable'.
