European Initiative culturebase.net is an online information source on contemporary artists and cultural practitioners from all around the world. All profiles can be searched and having been running for two years already it contains 1000 individuals and groups. culturebase.net is a unique European initiative of four innovative cultural players and their partners for the promotion of international art and cultural exchange. The website is a useful tool for programmers, promoters, curators, journalists, artists and students - indeed, anyone interested in finding out about arts from around the world. One of the aims of the website is to raise the profile of emerging artists many of whom are beginning to engage in cultural exchange. Each artist, group or practitioner on the database has a dedicated page with a text profile written by a journalist who is a specialist in their field and multimedia files on the artist’s work and life.
