Wales Arts International is working with the dance sector in Wales on a series of encounters between artists and organisations in Wales and their UK and international contemporaries.

Dance Encounters 1 and 2 took place in Cardiff from 16 to 18 June 2005. 

Encounter 1: Dancehouses was run in conjunction with Diversions, the Dance Company of Wales, and attended by international delegates from Canada, Germany, Netherlands, Phillippines, Poland, Slovenia, Spain and Zimbabwe. 

Encounter 2: Acts of Independence was run with Welsh Independent Dance and Chapter as project partners and attended by international delegates from Austria, Canada, Czech Republic, Estonia, Germany, Portugal, Slovakia and Slovenia.

Encounter 3: Someplace took place in Abercych, West Wales between 2 and 9 July 2006. It began with a five-day laboratory involving ten invited practitioners and culminated in a weekend of workshops, performance platforms, discussion and screenings with artists from across Wales and beyond.
