Theatr Mwldan

Catrin Finch and Seckou Keita were supported to showcase and perform their collaborative album in a number of events across France and the Benelux. The trip was managed by Theatr Mwldan.

Following the visit, Dilwyn Davies (director of Theatr Mwldan) stated:

"The application was to support the costs of debut performances by Catrin Finch and Seckou Keita in France and Benelux in 2014, to support the release of the album Clychau Dibon in both territories.

The four performances supported were successfully delivered as follows : Utrecht Harp Festival I RASA, Utrecht I 1March 2014

Sunset Sunside I Paris I 11 June 2014

Sfinks Mixed Festival I near Antwerp I 27 July 2014 FestivalInterceltique de Lorient I 6 August 2014

In the case of the Utrecht, Sfinks and Lorient performances, the performance fees net of tax were sufficient to deliver the show, covering artist and crew fees, but were not sufficient to cover the associated travel costs. In the case of Paris, this was a showcase performance targeted at supporting the album release in France, and the artists did not receive a performance fee, the IOF funding being used to support venue costs, travel and accommodation, crew costs and some promotiona l and PR costs incurred by our French PR representative.

In both territories - Benelux and France - the album was released successfully and we worked closely with our distributors in both territories (V2 in Benelux, L'Autre in France) and PR agents in France to ensure maximum press and media coverage around the four performances covered by this application.

In both territories, the album was successfully released and received good coverage in press and media. The live performances were an essential part of the success of the release campaigns.

The support of WAI to this project has been vital in enabling us to successfully launch the album in both territories, and we learned how important live performances are as part of the PR and marketing campaign, with press and media interest being heightened around live performances to support release.

WAI support also helped us to lay the foundation for future activity and sales in both territories, and nearly two years later, sales continue to be healthy and prolonged . We also followed up the Benelux launch with a 5-date Benelux tour in April 2015, which was achieved on a purely commercial basis."
