An exhibition in Hyvinkaa City Art Museum, Finland in October 2012 in the first phase of an artistic exchange project between Wales and Finland
Alongside fellow Welsh artist Amy Sterly, Marja was invited to exhibit her work in Hyvinkaa City Art Museum, Finland in October 2012 in the first phase of an artistic exchange project between Wales and Finland. The second phase took place in Wales in Spring 2013 at Wrexham Arts Centre.
Marja’s inspiration to make art often springs from her constant feeling of displacement, whether in Finland or the U.K. Through art, Marja seeks to explore the duality she feels, which springs from her own dual nationality. Amy’s work is concerned with the forms that make up the modern landscape: the building, tower, skyscraper.
During their trip, both artists spent time with the Finnish artists they were working with, and visited their studios. They stayed part of the time with the artists and were shown round their studios and local galleries. Marja wanted to meet other artists in the community with a view to possibly including them in future events.
WAI supported artists Marja Banada and Amy Sterly to exhibit their work in Hyvinkaa City Art Museum, Finland in October 2012.
