Dance from Wales at British Dance Edition 2010
Wales Arts International attended the British Dance Edition in February 2010, where Wales based dance practitioners Eddie Ladd and Tanja Raman performed.
The British Dance Edition is the biannual showcase of new British dance which took place in Birmingham in February 2010.
Wales Arts International supported Eddie Ladd to attend the 2010 Showcase, where she performed ‘The Bobby Sands Memorial Race’. The dance piece follows the life of Bobby Sands who died on Hunger strike in the H Blocks in Belfast in 1981. The show was performed on a 12ft x 6ft running machine and it was bilingual with interviews in English and new work in Welsh by poet Menna Elfyn.
Wales Arts International promoted a new Dance Directory (see below) which included a range of Independent Dance Practitioners and Dance Organisations from Wales. The Directory aims to raise the international profile of dance practice from Wales and will serve as a guide for international producers, promoters and curators to develop their knowledge about the dance sector in Wales.
