Ephemeral Coast - Mauritius Exhibition
Gemma was supported to undertake a period of research and development in Mauritius as a part of the Ephemeral Coast project in association with Mission Gallery.
"The Ephemeral Coast project in Mauritius featured a collaboration of international artists’ works exhibited at an historic fort overlooking the island’s capital city, Port Louis. It was a privilege to be a part of such a fantastic event and I feel as though my practice has benefited significantly as a result of undertaking this project.
During my time in Mauritius I helped to install the works, attended networking events and the exhibition opening night, met with curators, students and other art enthusiasts, from all types of backgrounds and was invited to a private performance by American artist Diana Heise.
Being able to undertake this project had been extremely valuable to my practice. I have been able to produce new work; expose my work to a new, international audience; develop my networks, both at home and abroad; gained valuable feedback and media coverage; learned new techniques; developed new ideas; and opened new opportunities for further exhibitions."
